MFA Press Statement: President Tony Tan Keng Yam's attendance at the Buckingham Palace Reception for the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games, 27 July 2012

President Tony Tan Keng Yam attended a Buckingham Palace reception hosted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom for visiting Heads of State and Heads of Government to the Olympic Games on 27 July 2012.

At the reception, President Tan conveyed his congratulations and best wishes to the Queen on the hosting of London 2012. He also personally extended to the Queen Singapore's heartiest congratulations on the celebration of her Diamond Jubilee. Lastly, President Tan underlined the warmth of the longstanding relations between the UK and Singapore.

After the reception, President Tan attended the Olympic Games opening ceremony together with Deputy Prime Minister Mr Teo Chee Hean (there in his capacity as President of Singapore National Olympic Council), and Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Mr Chan Chun Sing.
