MFA Press Statement: Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, for the Post Ministerial Conferences and the 19th ASEAN Regional Forum, 10 to 13 July 2012

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam will lead the Singapore delegation to the Post Ministerial Conferences (PMCs) and the 19th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 10 to 13 July 2012.

During the PMCs, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will meet their counterparts from each of ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners (namely, Australia, Canada, China, European Union, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation and the United States) to review relations and ongoing cooperation. Minister Shanmugam will hand over the Country Coordinatorship of the ASEAN-Australia Dialogue to the Philippines and take up the Country Coordinatorship of the ASEAN-Canada Dialogue from Thailand. The ASEAN Foreign Ministers will also meet their counterparts from the ASEAN Plus Three and the East Asia Summit (EAS) to review regional developments and progress on their partnership to realise ASEAN Community-Building goals. On 12 July 2012, the ARF Ministers will exchange views on key regional developments.

Minister Shanmugam will also conduct bilateral meetings with his counterparts at the sidelines of the meetings.
