As part of his two-day regional tour of five ASEAN Member States, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Dr Marty Natalegawa made a brief stopover visit in Singapore on 19 July 2012 to meet Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam.
The conversation between the Ministers focussed on ASEAN-related issues. Foreign Minister Marty updated Minister Shanmugam on his consultations with the Foreign Ministers of the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia on Indonesia's proposal to reaffirm common ASEAN positions on the South China Sea. Minister Shanmugam welcomed Indonesia’s efforts to reinforce ASEAN unity. The Ministers also reiterated their commitment to strengthen bilateral relations.
