MFA Press Statement: Visit to Singapore by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand, 24 to 25 July 2012

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand made a visit to Singapore from 24 to 25 July 2012, and was hosted to lunch by President and Mrs Tony Tan Keng Yam at the Istana on 25 July. They had a wide-ranging discussion during lunch, and explored how Singapore and Thailand could collaborate on projects to further bilateral relations.

While in Singapore, Her Royal Highness was conferred a Distinguished Honorary Fellow Award by the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in recognition of her many scholastic achievements. Former President S R Nathan, and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam were among the dignitaries present to witness the conferment. In the afternoon of 25 July, Her Royal Highness attended the sixth International Convention on Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology (i-CREATe) as Guest-of-Honour, with Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Chan Chun Sing as co-Guest-of-Honour. Her Royal Highness was also hosted to a visit at Gardens by the Bay by Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan.

Her Royal Highness departs Singapore in the evening of 25 July.
