Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli and Mrs Masagos, who are in Negara Brunei Darussalam for the Hari Raya celebrations there, today visited the Istana Nurul Iman. SMS Masagos conveyed to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam, and the Raja Isteri, Her Majesty Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, the warm wishes of Singapore’s leaders on the occasion of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. SMS Masagos also expressed confidence that the Singapore-Brunei relationship will continue to flourish through the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and the deepening of people-to-people ties.
Over the past two days, SMS Masagos attended the Hari Raya Open Houses of Home Affairs Minister Pehin Badaruddin Othman; Education Minister Pehin Abu Bakar Apong; Industry and Primary Resources Minister Pehin Yahya Bakar; Energy Minister Pehin Yasmin Umar; Religious Affairs Minister Pengiran Dato Mohammad Abdul Rahman; Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Pehin Hazair Abdullah; Health Minister Pehin Adanan Yusof; Communications Minister Pehin Abdullah Bakar; Deputy Home Affairs Minister Pehin Halbi Mohd Yusof; and Deputy Education Minister Dato Yusoff Ismail. SMS Masagos also attended the celebrations at Kampong Ayer (the Water Village), where he was warmly received by the penghulu Pengarah Awang Haji Mokti Mohd Salleh and the residents of Sungai Tamoi.
Today, SMS Masagos called on Brunei’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II Pehin Lim Jock Seng. They discussed the strong state of bilateral relations and Brunei’s upcoming ASEAN Chairmanship. SMS Masagos reiterated Singapore’s commitment to work with Brunei during their ASEAN Chairmanship next year.
