MFA Press Statement: Official Visit of the Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Zhou Yongkang, 21 – 22 September 2012

Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau (PSC) of the Communist Party of China Zhou Yongkang will visit Singapore from 21 to 22 September 2012 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean. This will be PSC Member Zhou’s first official visit to Singapore in his current capacity.

During his visit, PSC Member Zhou will call on President Tony Tan Keng Yam, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean. Deputy Prime Minister Teo and PSC Member Zhou will deliver keynote addresses for the inaugural Singapore-China Forum on Social Management and witness the signing of an exchange of letters on bilateral cooperation in the field of social management between Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports and Senior Minister of State for Defence Chan Chun Sing and Minister of the Central Committee Office for Comprehensive Social Management Chen Xunqiu.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo will host PSC Member Zhou to a Welcome Dinner, involving Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, as well as political office holders and senior officials from both sides. PSC Member Zhou will also receive briefings from the Housing and Development Board, as well as visit a public housing estate and a Community Centre.
