General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, His Excellency Nguyen Phu Trong, called on and was hosted to lunch by President Tony Tan Keng Yam this afternoon. Both leaders reaffirmed the warm bilateral relations and had a good discussion on ways to further strengthen economic and people-to-people ties. They also exchanged views on regional developments and agreed that both countries should work closer together towards establishing an ASEAN Community by 2015.
As part of his visit, General Secretary Trong will deliver a Public Lecture entitled “For a Southeast Asia of Peace, Stability, Cooperation, and Development” at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy tomorrow morning.
