Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli will visit the People’s Republic of Bangladesh from 1 to 6 September 2012. This will be SMS Masagos’ first visit to Bangladesh in his official capacity.
In Dhaka, SMS Masagos will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Dipu Moni, Minister of Home Affairs Shahara Khatun and the Leader of the Opposition and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Khaleda Zia. SMS Masagos will also have the opportunity to meet members of the local business community, and the Singapore community in Dhaka.
As part of the visit, SMS Masagos will travel to Chittagong, the chief port of Bangladesh and its commercial and industrial centre, where he will meet the Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation M Manzur Alam and members of the Chittagong business community.
SMS Masagos will be accompanied by the High Commissioner (Non-Resident) of Singapore to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Chan Heng Wing and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
