MFA Press Statement: Visit of Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong to the People’s Republic of China, 10-15 September 2012

Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong will visit the People’s Republic of China from 10 to 15 September 2012. ESM will meet Politburo Standing Committee Member Zhou Yongkang and other prominent personalities in Beijing on 10 September 2012, before travelling to Tianjin to attend the Board meeting of the Young Global Leaders’ (YGL) Foundation and the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting of the New Champions (Summer Davos). In Tianjin, ESM will have a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. He will also meet WEF Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab, foreign dignitaries and business leaders on the sidelines of the Summer Davos.

ESM will visit Anhui Province from 13 to 15 September 2012. This visit is part of our broader engagement of Chinese provinces to seek new opportunities for cooperation. In Anhui, ESM will meet Anhui Party Secretary Zhang Baoshun, Anhui Governor Li Bin and other provincial leaders. ESM will also meet senior executives of leading Singaporean companies in Anhui, and visit the port project of Keppel Telecommunications and Transportation and the local headquarters of Chery Automobile.

ESM will be accompanied by Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Community Development, Youth and Sports Sam Tan, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
