MFA Press Statement: Visit by President of the Government Inspection Authority and Head of Anti-Corruption Authority of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Dr Bounthong Chitmany, 15 to 18 October 2012

The President of the Government Inspection Authority and Head of the Anti-Corruption Authority of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Dr Bounthong Chitmany is visiting Singapore from 15 to 18 October 2012.

This morning, Dr Chitmany called on Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean. Both sides reaffirmed the warm and longstanding relations between Singapore and Laos, and agreed to explore ways to expand bilateral cooperation including Singapore’s contributions towards developing Laos’ human resource capability. Dr Chitmany and DPM Teo also engaged in a discussion on Singapore’s anti-corruption efforts.

Later this evening, Dr Chitmany will be hosted to dinner by Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu. During his visit, Dr Chitmany will also visit the Auditor-General’s Office, Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau, Attorney-General’s Chambers and Public Service Division to study Singapore’s anti-corruption and good governance practices.
