MFA Press Statement: Official Visit by Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg His Excellency Jean-Claude Juncker, 6 to 7 November 2012

The Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, His Excellency Jean-Claude Juncker, will make an official visit to Singapore from 6 to 7 November 2012 at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Prime Minister Juncker will be accompanied by Minister for National Education and Vocational Training Mady Delvaux-Stehres and senior government officials.

There will be an official welcome ceremony for Prime Minister Juncker at the Istana on 7 November. Following the welcome ceremony, Prime Minister Juncker will meet with Prime Minister Lee, who will host an Official Dinner in honour of Prime Minister Juncker and his delegation. In addition, Prime Minister Juncker will pay a courtesy call on President Tony Tan and attend a lunch hosted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

During the visit, Prime Minister Juncker will deliver a public lecture entitled “The Euro: An Asset for Europe and An Opportunity for Asia” on 6 November as part of the IISS Fullerton Lecture series. Prime Minister Juncker will also attend a reception for the Luxembourg community resident in Singapore and visit the National Orchid Garden, where an orchid hybrid will be named in his honour.
