MFA Press Statement: State Visit of President Tony Tan Keng Yam to the Republic of Indonesia, 27 November to 1 December 2012

President Tony Tan Keng Yam will make a State Visit to Indonesia from 27 November to 1 December 2012 at the invitation of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. President Tan will visit Jakarta from 27 to 30 November 2012 followed by Yogyakarta from 30 November – 1 December 2012.

In Jakarta, President Tan will receive a ceremonial welcome, and call on and be hosted to a State Banquet by President Yudhoyono. President Tan will also meet Vice-President Boediono. In addition, President Tan will meet the Singaporean community in Indonesia at a reception, and attend another reception to meet Indonesian alumni of Singapore institutes of higher learning and training and exchange programmes. President Tan will also lay a wreath at Kalibata Heroes’ Cemetery and visit a Singapore International Foundation palliative care project.

In Yogyakarta, President Tan will meet with and be hosted to dinner by the Governor of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X. President Tan will also visit Gadjah Mada University, and a Mercy Relief humanitarian assistance project in Magelang.

President Tan will be accompanied by Mrs Mary Tan, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Ms Grace Fu, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Manpower, Mr Hawazi Daipi, Members of Parliament Mr Gan Thiam Poh and Mr Edwin Tong and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth.
