MFA Press Statement: State Visit to Singapore by President of the Republic of Belarus His Excellency Aleksandr Lukashenko (20-21 March 2013)

               The President of the Republic of Belarus, His Excellency Aleksandr Lukashenko, will pay a State Visit to Singapore from 20 to 21 March 2013 at the invitation of President Tony Tan Keng Yam. 

                President Lukashenko will be accompanied by First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei, Minister of Taxation Vladimir Poluyan, Minister of Industry Dmitry Katerinich, Minister of Economy Nikolai Snopkov, Minister of Finance Andrei Harkovets, senior government officials and a business delegation.

               An official Welcome Ceremony will be held in honour of President Lukashenko at the Istana on 21 March 2013.  President Lukashenko will call on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and meet with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.  President Tan will also host a State Banquet in honour of President Lukashenko that evening.

               In conjunction with President Lukashenko’s State Visit, Singapore and Belarus will sign the Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Agreement on the Mutual Waiver of Visa Requirements for Diplomatic and Official Passports.  The Singapore Business Federation and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will also hold the Belarus-Singapore Business Forum on 22 March 2013 at York Hotel.  The Forum will provide a platform for the Singapore business community to gain insights into the current economic developments and emerging business and investment projects/opportunities in Belarus, and to meet and network with the Belarusian business delegates.
