United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Mr Jan Eliasson will visit Singapore from 1 to 4 May 2013 at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs International Organisations Distinguished Visitors Programme (IODVP). The objective of the IODVP is to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between Singapore and International Organisations.
During his visit, Mr Eliasson will meet with Minister Shanmugam and be hosted to lunch by Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. Mr Eliasson will also meet senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visit the NEWater Visitor Centre and deliver a lecture at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy on "Our New World: Challenges for Peace, Development and Human Rights" on 2 May 2013.
