Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam is in Bali to attend the 6th Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) Foreign Ministers Meeting from 13 - 14 June 2013. In addition to attending the Foreign Ministers Meeting, Minister Shanmugam also had bilateral meetings with his Foreign Minister counterparts from New Zealand Mr Murray Stuart McCully; Mexico Mr Jose Antonio Meade Kuribrena; Argentina Mr Hector Marcos Timerman; and Nicaragua Mr Samuel Santos Lopez; as well as the Heads of Delegation from Venezuela Vice Minister Mr David Velasquez Caraballo; Uruguay Vice Minister Ambassador Luis Alberto Porto Rizzo; Guatemala Vice Minister Ambassador Carlos Raul Morales; and Cuba Deputy Minister Mr Rogelio Sierra Diaz. In the bilateral meetings, Minister Shanmugam discussed developments in Asia and Latin America and initiatives to bring the two regions closer together, as well as ways to expand cooperation between Singapore and their respective countries.
Minister Shanmugam also joined other FEALAC Foreign Ministers and Heads of Delegation in making a joint courtesy call on Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on 14 June 2013.
