MFA Press Statement: Official Visit by His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince Alois, Crown Prince of the Principality of Liechtenstein, 26 to 28 June 2013

            His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince Alois, Crown Prince of the Principality of Liechtenstein, is making an official visit to Singapore from 26 to 28 June 2013 at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.  This is Prince Alois’ second official visit to Singapore.  He is accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs, Education and Culture Dr Aurelia Frick, senior officials and a business delegation.

            This morning, Prince Alois had a bilateral meeting with Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu.  They discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Singapore and Liechtenstein, and had an exchange of views on developments in Europe and Asia.

 

            Prince Alois will officiate the opening of the exhibition “Princely Treasures from the House of Liechtenstein” at the National Museum of Singapore this evening.  The exhibition comprises 91 artworks from the Princely Collection of Liechtenstein, alongside 16 artworks from the Museum’s own collection. 

 

            There will be an official welcome ceremony for Prince Alois at the Istana on 27 June 2013. Following the welcome ceremony, Prince Alois will pay a courtesy call on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and meet with Prime Minister Lee, who will also host an Official Dinner in honour of Prince Alois.  Prince Alois will have separate bilateral meetings with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang.  Prince Alois will also be the Guest of Honour at the official opening of the Consulate of the Principality of Liechtenstein on 27 June 2013.

 

            On 28 June 2013, Prince Alois will deliver a lecture entitled “The Chances and Challenges of Liechtenstein” at the National University of Singapore.  During his time here, Prince Alois will also meet with representatives from the business and financial sectors in Singapore.
