The Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Shinzo Abe, will be visiting Singapore on 26 July 2013 at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. This will be Prime Minister Abe’s first Official Visit to Singapore as Prime Minister, which underscores the excellent bilateral relations between Singapore and Japan.
During his visit, Prime Minister Abe will call on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee at the Istana. Prime Minister Lee will also host a welcome ceremony and lunch for Prime Minister Abe. In addition, Prime Minister Abe will meet Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information Lawrence Wong at other official events. Prime Minister Abe will also deliver the 33rdSingapore Lecture on Japan's economic policies on 26 July afternoon. The Singapore Lecture will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
Prime Minister Abe will be accompanied by senior Japanese officials from the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs; Economy, Trade and Industry; Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; and other Japanese officials.
