In response to media queries on the situation in Egypt, the MFA Spokesman said:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our Embassy in Cairo are monitoring the developments in Egypt closely.  As an old friend of Egypt, Singapore hopes that Egypt will be able to restore order and political stability soon.

Owing to the fluidity of the situation, we would like to reiterate that Singaporeans should defer all non-essential travel to Egypt for the time being.  Singaporeans who are currently in Egypt should continue to take the necessary precautions for their personal safety. The Singapore Embassy in Cairo remains in close contact with the Singaporean community.  For Singaporeans who have not already done so, they should eRegister immediately at http://eregister.mfa.gov.sg/.
