Dinner hosted for Mexican Secretary for Foreign Affairs Jose Antonio Meade Kuribrena by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Law K Shanmugam, 17 August 2013 [Photo: MFA]The Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States, His Excellency José Antonio Meade Kuribreña, is making an official visit to Singapore from 17 to 18 August 2013 at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam.
Secretary Meade was hosted to dinner by Minister Shanmugam, and the two Ministers held the inaugural bilateral consultative talks between the two Foreign Ministries today. Both sides reaffirmed the growing bilateral relations, exchanged views on strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation, and looked forward to substantive deliverables for the forthcoming State Visit by President Enrique Pena Nieto to Singapore in October 2013. They also had substantive discussions on regional and international developments.
Secretary Meade, who was formerly the Secretary of Finance, was earlier hosted to lunch by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
