Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi on 28 August 2013. They reaffirmed the warm and longstanding bilateral relations and reiterated the commitment of both countries to further strengthen their cooperation.
Minister Shanmugam also conveyed his appreciation to Minister Wang for China's excellent arrangements provided for the official visit of Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to Beijing, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Liaoning Province. Minister Shanmugam also noted the good discussions between Prime Minister Lee and the Chinese leaders.
Minister Shanmugam also thanked Minister Wang for hosting the Special ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers' Meeting and organising a good programme for the ASEAN Foreign Ministers. Both Ministers took stock of the achievements in ASEAN-China relations and exchanged views on its future direction.
