In response to media queries on the dispersal of the demonstrations in Cairo by the Egyptian authorities on 14 August 2013, the MFA Spokesman said:
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our Embassy in Cairo are monitoring the developments in Egypt closely. Our Embassy is in touch with Singaporeans, particularly our students in Cairo and there are no reports of affected Singaporeans thus far.
MFA's travel notice issued on 2 August 2013 advising Singaporeans to defer all non-essential travel to Egypt, in particular to Cairo, Alexandria, Sinai and Suez remains valid.
