Dear Mr Abbott
On behalf of the Government and people of Singapore, I warmly congratulate you on leading the Australian Liberal-National Coalition to victory in today’s Federal Elections. Your resounding electoral success reflects the confidence that Australians have in your leadership and vision for Australia.
Singapore and Australia are close and longstanding partners. Our bilateral relations are excellent, with wide-ranging cooperation in many areas, including trade and investments, defence, education and people-to-people exchanges. We also work well together in multilateral fora, including the Five Power Defence Arrangements and the East Asia Summit.
I recall well our meeting in Canberra last October. I would like to invite you to make an official visit to Singapore in the near future. I look forward to meeting you at the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Bali next month, and to work with you to strengthen Singapore-Australia relations.
Yours
LEE HSIEN LOONG
