MFA Press Statement : State Visit of President Tony Tan Keng Yam to Malaysia, 18 - 20 September 2013

President Tony Tan Keng Yam, accompanied by Mrs Mary Tan, began his State Visit to Malaysia today. President Tan and Mrs Tan were accorded a ceremonial welcome at Parliament Square, followed by a State Drive with His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong.

Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Sri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor called on President Tan and Mrs Tan. President Tan and Prime Minister Najib reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations between Singapore and Malaysia, and the need to strengthen institutional links, as well as promote people-to-people ties, at all levels. They also agreed that there should be more cooperation between the public and private sectors of both countries. President and Prime Minister Najib welcomed the rapidly expanding economic ties, which include enhanced connectivity and the twinning of economic activities between Singapore and Iskandar Malaysia.
President and Mrs Tan had a joint audience with the Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong. They were then hosted to a banquet in the Istana Negara by the Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong.
