(Photo: MFA) Meeting between Costa Rican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship Jose Enrique Castillo Barrantes and Costa Rican Minister of Culture and Youth Manuel Obregon Lopez with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam, 24 October 2013Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship His Excellency Jose Enrique Castillo Barrantes and Minister of Culture and Youth His Excellency Manuel Obregon Lopez of the Republic of Costa Rica, who are on an official visit to Singapore from 22 to 25 October 2013, met with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam this afternoon.
During the meeting, both sides affirmed the warm friendship and growing ties between Singapore and Costa Rica in recent years, particularly with the coming into force of the Singapore-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement in July 2013.
Minister Castillo and Minister Obregon were also hosted to lunch by Senior Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and Mayor, Central Singapore District Mr Sam Tan on 22 October 2013. Minister Obregon also met with Acting Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth and Senior Minister of State of the Ministry of Communications and Information Mr Lawrence Wong.
Minister Obregon, who is an accomplished composer and pianist, performed concerts at The Arts House and the National Library@Esplanade during his visit.
Ministers Castillo and Obregon will depart Singapore tomorrow.
