MFA Press Statement: 3rd ASEAN - Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Meeting,Manama, The Kingdom o Bahrain, 26 November 2013

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam attended the 3^rd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Meeting in Manama, the Kingdom of Bahrain today. The Meeting was co-chaired by Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Dato’ Sri Anifah Aman and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa.

The GCC comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The 3^rdASEAN-GCC Ministerial Meeting follows the 2^nd full-fledged ASEAN-GCC Ministerial Meeting hosted by Singapore in June 2010. The Ministers reaffirmed the warm ASEAN-GCC ties and welcomed the continuation of the ASEAN-GCC Ministerial Meetings. The Ministers also expressed their appreciation to Bahrain for its proactive role in gathering the 16 Member States from ASEAN and the GCC to chart the future direction for ASEAN-GCC relations.
