His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, visited Singapore to co-chair the 7thAbu Dhabi-Singapore Joint Forum (ADSJF) with Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and National Development Lee Yi Shyan on 26 November 2013. In addition to the 7th ADSJF, Chairman Al Mubarak also called on Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean and Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong separately.
Chairman Al Mubarak and DPM Teo Chee Hean reaffirmed the strong and growing bilateral relations between the UAE and Singapore. They also touched on areas of common interest for collaboration between both countries. DPM Teo highlighted the entry into force of the Gulf Cooperation Council-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (GSFTA) on 1 September 2013 and welcomed UAE companies to use Singapore as a base to expand their presence in the region. Chairman Al Mubarak and DPM Teo also had an exchange of views on developments in the Middle East.
Chairman Al Mubarak and ESM Goh Chok Tong agreed that relations between the UAE and Singapore were excellent. They welcomed the growing cooperation between Abu Dhabi and Singapore in various areas such as water management and urban planning, and had a good discussion on regional developments in the Middle East. Chairman Al Mubarak also conveyed the greetings of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council to ESM.
