MFA Press Statement: Visit of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam in Colombo, Sri Lanka, 14 November 2013

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam, who was in Colombo, Sri Lanka for the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers' Meeting preceding the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), had bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Cyprus and Sierra Leone on 14 November 2013.

Cyprus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides updated Minister Shanmugam on the economic developments in his country. Both Ministers agreed to encourage greater trade and investment flows between Singapore and Cyprus. They also agreed that a speedy ratification of the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA) will be beneficial to companies from both countries.

Minister Shanmugam and Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and agreed that there was scope for increased cooperation both bilaterally and on issues of common concern at international fora.
