MFA Press Statement: Meeting between Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Chung Hong-won in Seoul, Republic of Korea, 3 March 2014

Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong had a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Chung Hong-won in Seoul today. ESM and Prime Minister Chung affirmed the excellent relations between Singapore and the ROK. They noted that both countries share common challenges and should have regular high-level exchanges to discuss ways to overcome them.

ESM and Prime Minister Chung also discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation between Singapore and the ROK through strengthening the Korea-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (KSFTA) and the bilateral air services agreement. They agreed that the relevant officials from both countries should meet to further discuss these issues.

ESM was in Seoul to deliver a keynote speech at the 5^th Asian Leadership Conference (ALC). The ALC is a flagship international conference organised by one of the ROK’s leading dailies Chosun Ilbo.
