MFA Spokesman's Comments in response to media queries on Malaysia Airlines flight MH 370 that went missing on 8 March 2014

In response to media queries on Malaysia Airlines flight MH 370 that went missing on 8 March 2014, the MFA Spokesman said:

“MFA is closely monitoring the status of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH 370 on 8 March 2014. MFA has been in touch with Malaysia Airlines, and confirmed that there were no Singaporeans onboard the flight. Singaporeans who require consular assistance should contact the MFA Duty Office (24-hours) or the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur at:

Singapore’s thoughts and prayers are with the passengers and crew of the missing aircraft, and their families. The Singapore Rescue Coordination Centre was activated and an aircraft was sent to help in the search and locate efforts.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Law K Shanmugam have respectively called Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Sri Najib Razak and Foreign Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Sri Anifah Hj. Aman to express their sympathies over the missing aircraft, and offer any further assistance that Singapore can render to Malaysia. Minister Shanmugam has also conveyed to PRC Foreign Minister Wang Yi his concern for the many Chinese passengers onboard the missing aircraft.”
