Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, will make an official visit to Singapore from 10 to 13 June 2014 at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam. He will be accompanied by officials from the Bahrain Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
While in Singapore, Minister Shaikh Khalid will call on Minister Shanmugam, who will also host dinner. Both Ministers will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of Bilateral Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Bahrain and Singapore. Minister Shaikh Khalid will also call separately on Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean and Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang.
Minister Shaikh Khalid will co-officiate the opening of the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Workshop with Minister Shanmugam on 11 June. The one-day workshop aims to bring together relevant stakeholders in the public and private sectors to identify ways to strengthen ASEAN-GCC cooperation and promote closer relations between both regions. Singapore had offered to host the workshop at the 3rd ASEAN-GCC Ministerial Meeting in Bahrain in November 2013.
