MFA Press Statement: State Visit of President Tony Tan Keng Yam to the Commonwealth of Australia, 15 to 20 June 2014

President Tony Tan Keng Yam will make a State Visit to the Commonwealth of Australia from 15 to 20 June 2014 at the invitation of the Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove. President Tan will visit Canberra, Adelaide and Perth.

In Canberra, President Tan will receive a ceremonial welcome and will be hosted to a State Lunch by Governor-General Cosgrove. President Tan will also meet Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory Katy Gallagher. In addition, President Tan will visit the National Arboretum and lay a wreath at the Australian War Memorial.

In Adelaide, President Tan will meet the Governor of South Australia Kevin Scarce and the Premier of South Australia Jay Weatherill. President Tan will also visit his alma mater, the University of Adelaide, where he will be conferred an honorary doctorate.

In Perth, President Tan will meet the Governor of Western Australia Malcolm McCusker and the Premier of Western Australia Colin Barnett. He will also host a reception for the Singaporean community and visit the Republic of Singapore Air Force Pearce Detachment in Western Australia.

President Tan will be accompanied by Mrs Mary Tan; Minister for Transport Mr Lui Tuck Yew and Mrs Lui Soo Fen; Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Transport A/Prof Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim; and Members of Parliament Ms Foo Mee Har and Mr Alex Yam, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
