MFA Press Statement: Visit of Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli to Santa Cruz, Bolivia, 14 to 15 June 2014

Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli attended the 50th Anniversary Summit of the Group of 77 and China (G77) in Santa Cruz, Bolivia from 14-15 June 2014. 


Leaders from the Group’s 133 member countries and senior UN officials, including the President of the 68th UN General Assembly John Ashe and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, attended the Summit. They recognised the G77’s important role as the voice of developing countries in international fora over the last fifty years. They also pledged to work closely with the Group to address challenges member countries face in pursuing sustainable development.


At the sidelines of the Summit, SMS Masagos had bilateral meetings with H.E. Ruben Saavedra, Minister of Defence, Bolivia (representing the host government), H.E. Heraldo Munoz, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chile, H.E. Simbarashe Simbanenduku Mumbengegwi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zimbabwe, H.E. Lluwellyn Landers, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, South Africa, H.E. Manuel Augusto, Secretary of State of External Relations, Angola, and H.E. Fatma Zahraa Etman, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt. At each of these meetings, SMS Masagos reaffirmed our bilateral relations with these countries and discussed regional developments with them. SMS Masagos also offered the Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) to his counterparts to support the training of staff involved in urban planning and management.
