Visit by 1st Vice President Dr Sai Mauk Kham, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, 13 to 17 July 2014

    1st Vice President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Dr Sai Mauk Kham called on President Tony Tan at the Istana today.  He was also hosted to dinner by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Home Affairs, and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean yesterday evening.

 

    During his meetings with President Tan and DPM Teo, Dr Sai Mauk Kham expressed Myanmar’s appreciation for Singapore’s strong support for Myanmar’s development.  Dr Sai Mauk Kham, who visited Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and the Tuas South Incineration Plant yesterday, told President Tan and DPM Teo that Myanmar could learn from Singapore’s experience in healthcare and waste management.  He had a discussion with President Tan on education policies and exchanged views with DPM Teo on anti-corruption practices, immigration policies, population growth and environmental issues. 

 

    Dr Sai Mauk Kham toured the Asian Civilisations Museum today, and received a briefing by the Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth.  Tomorrow, he will visit the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau, and ITE College West where he will be briefed by officials from the Ministry of Education.  He will also be hosted by Mayor of Singapore Central District Ms Denise Phua at her Meet-the-People Session in Moulmein-Kallang GRC tomorrow evening.  He will visit the NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music on 17 July.
