Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam held a series of bilateral meetings this afternoon with his counterparts from Mauritius, Rwanda and Tanzania at the sidelines of the Sub-Saharan Africa High Level Ministerial Exchange Visit.
Minister Shanmugam and Mauritius’ Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Dr Arvin Boolell reaffirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations between the two countries. Minister Shanmugam also noted that there was good progress in several of the ongoing projects that was spearheaded by the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise in Mauritius.
Minister Shanmugam and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Rwanda Louise Mushikiwabo discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of trade and investments. Both Ministers also signed an Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement after their meeting.
With Tanzanian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mahadhi Juma Maalim, Minister Shanmugam welcomed the growing relations, as exemplified by the increasing Singapore commercial interests in Tanzania. Minister Shanmugam also encouraged Tanzania to send its officials for training in Singapore under the Singapore Cooperation Programme.
