Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu has completed her visit to Sarawak, Malaysia, which she began on 19 August 2014.
Minister Fu was in Kuching on 19 August, where she called on Chief Minister of Sarawak Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Adenan bin Haji Satem, Speaker of the Sarawak State Assembly Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Asfia bin Awang Nassar, and Sarawak Minister of Housing and Tourism Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Abang Haji Openg. They affirmed the longstanding friendship and growing ties between Singapore and Sarawak. Minister Fu also met with Sarawak business leaders and exchanged views on the potential for cooperation in tourism, trade and food sourcing opportunities between Singapore and Sarawak.
On 20 August, Minister Fu visited the Samalaju Industrial Park in Bintulu, where she was briefed on the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy. Minister Fu also visited OM Holdings, a joint venture between Singapore and Sarawak businessmen, at the industrial park. Over the next two days, Minister Fu visited Miri and Mulu, where she met and exchanged views with local officials and business leaders.
Minister Fu will be returning to Singapore later this evening.
