[Photo: MFA] Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs Masagos Zulkifli is currently on the second day of his visit to East Java, Indonesia.
SMS Masagos met Surabaya Vice Mayor Wisnu Sakti Buana. They noted the strong linkages between Singapore and Surabaya and exchanged views on the opportunities for further cooperation. SMS shared that Singapore’s experience in tourism promotion, urban planning and infrastructure could be a potential area in which both sides could strengthen their partnership. SMS also invited Surabaya officials to participate in courses run under the Singapore Cooperation Programme.
SMS handed over a donation of over 200 English-language books from the National Library Board to the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) office in East Java. The NU is one of Indonesia’s most well-established mass Islamic organisations. Singapore hopes that the donation will assist in furthering NU’s efforts in the field of education.
SMS Masagos also met with members of the local business community. They discussed ways to broaden economic ties between the province and Singapore.
