[Photo: MFA] State Councillor of the People’s Republic of China Yang Jiechi called on Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong and met with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam this afternoon.
ESM and State Councillor Yang affirmed the strong relationship between Singapore and China. They also exchanged views on regional developments, including the South China Sea issue, and stressed the importance of fostering good relations and cooperation among countries in the region.
Minister Shanmugam and State Councillor Yang discussed the warm and longstanding bilateral ties and agreed to further deepen and broaden cooperation. They also highlighted the importance of managing and strengthening ASEAN-China relations which are close and substantive.
