Congratulatory Message from President Tony Tan Keng Yam to President Xi Jinping

24 September 2014

His Excellency Xi Jinping
President
People’s Republic of China

Your Excellency,

On behalf of the people of the Republic of Singapore, I would like to convey my heartiest congratulations on the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Asia is the world’s most dynamic and economically vibrant region today.  China’s continued steady growth over the years has contributed to the peace and stability of not just the region, but of the world as a whole.  China has made remarkable progress in its reform efforts as it undergoes a transition to a more sustainable growth model.  I have every faith in your stewardship as China’s development enters a new era and your nation strides towards achieving the Chinese Dream.

Singapore-China relations are also progressing to the next level as we approach the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.  Our bilateral cooperation in the traditional pillars of economics, human resource development and people-to-people exchanges continue to deepen, even as we seek out new opportunities to work together in areas such as financial services, food safety, social governance and the support of the development of China’s western region.  The commitment that both our countries have made to the strengthening of our friendship gives me confidence that our relations will rise to greater heights.

I fondly recall your warm hospitality when I visited Nanjing in August to attend the 2nd Youth Olympic Games.  To commemorate the 25th anniversary of our countries’ substantive and fruitful diplomatic ties, my wife and I warmly welcome you and Mdm Peng Liyuan to Singapore on a State Visit next year.  We are also looking forward to making a State Visit to China next year.

I wish you continued good health and success.

Yours sincerely,

TONY TAN KENG YAM

Congratulatory Message from Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to Premier Li Keqiang

24 September 2014

Dear Premier Li,

On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Singapore, I convey my warmest congratulations on the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

History offers few parallels to China’s truly remarkable achievements over the past decades.  China’s pragmatism, sense of purpose and determination in tackling its challenges head-on set it in good stead for the coming decades.  I am confident that China will continue to innovate, adapt, and grow strongly.  This will create more opportunities for win-win cooperation and greater prosperity for all countries in the region.

Singapore and China share a unique friendship.  Our relationship is multi-faceted, substantive and mutually beneficial, and has kept up with the times.  At each juncture, we have sought to understand each other better, and support each other’s progress and development in new areas.  Our bilateral cooperation in the traditional pillars of economics, human resource development and people-to-people exchanges continue to deepen, even as we advance into financial services, food safety, and social governance.  We are also exploring the possibility of a third Government-to-Government project to support the development of China’s western region.  Regionally, Singapore and China have worked well together to promote peace and stability through multilateral groupings, particularly ASEAN.  I look forward to working with you to further enhance our close friendship for the common benefit of our two peoples and the people of our region.

I remember warmly our meeting in Beijing last year and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Yours sincerely

LEE HSIEN LOONG

His Excellency Li Keqiang
Premier
People’s Republic of China
