MFA Press Statement: Working Visit by Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli to Terengganu, Malaysia, 16 to 18 September 2014

            Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli completed the second day of his working visit to Terengganu, Malaysia on 17 September 2014.

 

            SMS Masagos called on the Chief Minister of Terengganu Dato’ Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman at his residence.  They had a fruitful discussion on ways to promote economic interaction and people-to-people ties between Singapore and Terengganu.  Thereafter, SMS Masagos had an audience with the Sultan of Terengganu HRH Mizan Zainal Abidin ibni Almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billie Shah, during which he affirmed the warm relations between Terengganu and Singapore.

 

            SMS Masagos was briefed by the State Economic Planning Unit and the East Coast Economic Region Development Council on their plans to stimulate growth and development in Terengganu. The two agencies are keen to attract more Singapore investment into Terengganu, especially in the development of tourism infrastructure.  Later in the evening, SMS Masagos attended the inaugural Terengganu Peranakan Festival as a guest of its organisers, the Terengganu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 

 

            While in Terengganu, SMS Masagos also met with local officials and business leaders, including the Terengganu Malay Chamber of Commerce, and exchanged ideas on how to strengthen business-to-business cooperation between Singapore and Terengganu.  SMS Masagos will return to Singapore on 18 September.
