The Governor of Indonesia’s Riau Islands (Kepri) province, Muhammad Sani, called on Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam this morning. Minister Shanmugam and Governor Sani discussed ways to strengthen relations between Singapore and Kepri. Minister Shanmugam highlighted some of the issues faced by foreign investors in Kepri province recently. Both Minister Shanmugam and Governor Sani agreed on the need for both sides to explore closer economic cooperation.
Governor Sani is leading a high-level delegation from Kepri on a visit to Singapore. Governor Sani and his delegation were hosted to dinner by Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli on 28 October 2014. SMS Masagos and Governor Sani had a good discussion on Kepri’s development and reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between Kepri and Singapore. During his visit, Governor Sani also met with Chairman of EDB Leo Yip.
