Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong met Princess Astrid of Belgium during the latter’s official visit to Singapore. She was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Didier Reynders, Minister-President of Flanders Geert Bourgeois, Vice-President and Minister of Economy for Wallonia Jean-Claude Marcourt, Federal Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Pieter de Crem and Secretary of State for Foreign Trade and Investment for the Brussels-Capital Region Cécile Jodogne. PM Lee and the Belgian leaders reaffirmed the close relations between Singapore and Belgium and agreed to find further areas of cooperation for mutual benefit. They also exchanged views on developments in Asia and Europe, as well as other global developments, including the rise of religious extremism.
Earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Didier Reynders to exchange views on international financial issues.
Princess Astrid and the Belgian delegation will depart on 28 November 2014.
