MFA Press Statement: Visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Lajčák, 2-4 November 2014

        Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák is visiting Singapore from 2 to 4 November 2014.  DPM Lajčák called on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.  He was hosted to breakfast by Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Vivian Balakrishnan and lunch by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam.

        DPM Lajčák is accompanied on the visit by Minister of Justice Tomáš Borec and a business delegation.  DPM Lajčák and Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang co-officiated the Singapore-Slovak Business Forum, which was well-attended by business representatives from both countries.

        During his meetings, DPM Lajčák and our leaders reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries.  They discussed possible areas of collaboration, and had an exchange of views on regional developments in Europe and Asia.  DPM Lajčák also reiterated the Slovak Republic’s support for the expeditious ratification of the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement.
