MFA Spokesman's comments in response to media queries on the killing of a Japanese national by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, 25 January 2015

In response to media queries on the killing of a Japanese national by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, the MFA spokesman said:

“Singapore strongly condemns the terrorist acts by and continued brutality of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), most recently seen in the reported murder of Japanese national Haruna Yukawa.  We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Mr Yukawa and reiterate our repeated calls for ISIS to release Mr Kenji Goto and all other hostages immediately.  This latest incident once again reinforces the urgent need for the international community to work closely together to neutralise the threat posed by ISIS and other terrorist organisations.”
