                    A bipartisan United States Congressional delegation led by Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means Paul Ryan (Republican-Wisconsin), called on Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam this morning. 

 

                   During the meeting, Minister Shanmugam and the Congressional delegation affirmed the excellent bilateral relations between Singapore and the US.  Minister Shanmugam welcomed the US’ commitment to continue deepening its engagement of the Asia-Pacific region.  Minister Shanmugam and the Congressional delegation exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the progress of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations.  Both sides underscored the importance of the successful conclusion of the TPP Agreement. 

 

                   The Congressional delegation will also call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Minister for Trade & Industry Lim Hng Kiang today. 

 

                   The delegation is in Singapore from 15 to 17 February 2015.
