MFA Press Statement: Appointment of Singapore's Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines, 20 March 2015

 

            The Government has appointed Ms Kok Li Peng as Singapore’s Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines.

 

            Ms Kok will assume post on 30 March 2015.  She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995 and served as Director-General (ASEAN) from March 2012 to January 2015 and as Deputy Permanent Representative in the Permanent Mission of Singapore to the United Nations in New York from
September 2008 to January 2012.

 

 

            Ms Kok graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the National University of Singapore in 1994.  She obtained a Masters in Arts (Political Science) from Columbia University in 2006 on a Fulbright Scholarship.  Ms Kok was also awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2008.

BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY

 

 

Ms Kok Li Peng last held the post of Director-General of ASEAN Directorate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from March 2012 to January 2015.

 

 

Ms Kok graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the National University of Singapore in 1994.  She obtained a Masters in Arts (Political Science) from Columbia University in 2006 on a Fulbright Scholarship.

 

 

A career diplomat, Ms Kok joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995.  While in HQ, she served in the International Organisations Directorate from October 1995 to January 1997.  She also covered various portfolios in Southeast Asia Directorate including Regional Policy, Special Projects, Malaysia and Brunei.  She was appointed Deputy Director (Malaysia and Brunei) from April 2006 to August 2008.

 

 

Ms Kok’s first overseas posting was as First Secretary in Washington from February 1999 to February 2002.  She also served as Deputy Permanent Representative in the Permanent Mission of Singapore to the United Nations in New York from September 2008 to January 2012.

 

 

Ms Kok was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2008.
