MFA Press Statement: Visit of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli to Kuwait and Bahrain, 19 to 22 April 2015

                    Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli will visit Kuwait and Bahrain from 19 to 22 April 2015.  The visit will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and the respective countries.  Minister Masagos’ visit is also part of Singapore’s efforts to strengthen our engagement with members of the Gulf Cooperation Council. 

 

 

                    While in Kuwait from 19 to 20 April, Minister Masagos will be meeting several Kuwaiti leaders including His Excellency Marzouq Ali Al Ghanim, Speaker of the Kuwait National Assembly, His Excellency Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and His Excellency Lieutenant General Sheikh Khaled Al Jarrah Al Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.  Minister Masagos will also witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Civil Service College and the Civil Service Commission of Kuwait renewing cooperation in the area of capacity building of government officials. 

 

 

                   Following his visit to Kuwait, Minister Masagos will visit Bahrain from 20 to 22 April.  He is expected to call on Bahraini leaders including possible meetings with His Excellency Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and His Excellency Zayed Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Commerce and Industry. 

 

 

                   During his visit, Minister Masagos will meet the Singapore community and deliver remarks at a reception to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations in both Kuwait and Bahrain.  Minister Masagos will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Civil Service College, International Enterprise Singapore and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.
