Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam will visit Ukraine, Italy and the Vatican City from 6 to 13 May 2015.
Minister Shanmugam will be in Kyiv, Ukraine, from 6 to 7 May 2015. He is scheduled to call on President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin will meet and host him to a meal.
After Kyiv, Minister Shanmugam will visit Florence, Italy, on 8 May 2015 to participate in the State of the Union Conference organised by the European University Institute. Minister Shanmugam has been invited to address the conference on the topic, “Europe and Asia”.
Minister Shanmugam will thereafter proceed to Rome and Vatican City from 11 to 13 May 2015. In the Vatican City, Minister will have separate meetings with the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States Archbishop Paul Gallagher and Prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy Cardinal George Pell. He is also scheduled to have an audience with Pope Francis. In Rome, Minister will meet Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Paolo Gentiloni.
Minister Shanmugam will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
