MFA Press Statement: Condolence letter from President Tony Tan Keng Yam on Stampede at Mina, Saudi Arabia, on 24 September 2015

                   President Tony Tan Keng Yam has written to Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to convey his condolences on the stampede at Mina, outside the holy city of Makkah during the annual haj pilgrimage.  The text of the letter is appended below.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of lives and injury to pilgrims caused by the stampede in Mina on 24 September 2015.  

 

On behalf of the people of Singapore, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Your Majesty and the people of Saudi Arabia.  Our thoughts are with the families of the victims.  We hope that those who are injured will have a quick and full recovery.
