The Governor-General of Australia, General The Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), who is on a State Visit to Singapore, met Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana this afternoon. Governor-General Cosgrove and Prime Minister Lee reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations between Singapore and Australia, and discussed in particular the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries which was signed in June 2015. Governor-General Cosgrove also expressed appreciation for Singapore’s support for the New Colombo Plan.
In addition, Governor-General Cosgrove and Prime Minister Lee discussed global and regional developments, including ISIS.
Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen hosted Governor-General Cosgrove to lunch earlier today. Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove will visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens tomorrow.
