MFA Press Statement: Appointment of High Commissioner to Negara Brunei Darussalam, 27 January 2016

        The Government has appointed Mr Lim Hong Huai as Singapore’s next High Commissioner to Negara Brunei Darussalam.

        Mr Lim will assume post on 21 March 2016.  He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994 and last served as Director-General (Southeast Asia I) from July 2013 to January 2016.  He had served as Consul-General in Johor Bahru from May 2010 to June 2013, and also previously in Jakarta and Washington.

         Mr Lim graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the National University of Singapore in 1994 and Masters of Laws from Harvard University, USA in 2005.

BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY

 

               Mr Lim Hong Huai last held the post of Director-General (Southeast Asia I) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from July 2013 to January 2016. 

 

 

               Mr Lim graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the National University of Singapore in 1994 and Masters of Laws from Harvard University, USA in 2005.

 

 

               Mr Lim joined the Singapore Foreign Service in September 1994.  In the Ministry’s Headquarters, Mr Lim covered several portfolios including Middle East, North America, Southeast Asia and International Organisations.  

 

 

               Mr Lim had served as Consul-General in the Singapore Consulate-General in Johor Bahru (May 2010 to June 2013).  His other postings include Jakarta (February 2006 to February 2010) and Washington (March 1996 to July 1999).
